The Wall Street Journal covered the debut of the "Reverse VC Pitch Party" at SXSW in March
This is a party where tier one VCs pitch us. It is #hiLarryAss #reverseVC
Focus: "Wooing a VC To Mentor Us"
I have this theory that people do better when a mentor paves a way... I have coat-tailed the best and the brightest so I make the perfect executive admin to organize this event
Lets all learn to use a super angel to mentor us
During my legendary VC panel at SXSW where I crashed people on to my panel... one big *NUGGET* of knowledge was, "Ask for mentorshipship before you ask for money"
Think about that.
Theme: #ReverseVC
VCs pitch us the entrepreneur.
It debuted at Stanford Business School. Grand-opened at Kauffman Fellows Center for Venture Education and launched at SXSW.
Sometimes VCs stand on a soapbox. Sometimes a VC will speak on a 2am panel.
Sometimes I will crash a VCs admin onto a SXSW stage and have them tell us how it is really done.

*If you'd like a rebate, Facebook wall post, tweet & email me, Larry Chiang, the event secretary*
|
Here is how:
- Post on my Wall saying that you'll come
- Tweet an RSVP yes
- Buy a ticket and come Feb 22
- I reserve the right to revoke your ticket up to 24 hrs prior
- I reserve the right to kick you out with a 100% refund on the spot if you're a jerk to one of my VCs that I had to use my relationship capital to woo to pay to pitch you... so BE NICE and kiss some VC butt. The food you're eating costs more than what you paid.
- Email me your receipt after you come with a link to your tweet (take a pic at the event showing that you were there)

Remember, in this age of 'Moore's law' and "everything is FASTER"...
...if you can not get your ROI for your $ BEFORE you come... you should probably read my articles on "How to Work a Conference". If you don't get your money's worth before the party starts, you should not be coming and maybe you should re-think being an entrepreneur.

- B - bring

- O - own
- V - venture
- C - captialist
Everyone has a VC friend that does not want to fund them. In my case I have about 80 of these 'friends'
HEY, have you heard of a "White Elephant" gift exchange?! It is where you bring a gift you did not want and you pool all the unwanted gifts together. You get to pick one and you go through rounds where people trade, steal, borror, swap gifts. It is fun!
PLOT spoiler: Everyone goes home with a new gift they do not want.
Think of the BYOVC theme as a white elephant exchange for VCs.

Asse9 stands for Austin Secret Society of Entrepreneurs 9. It means if you're not striving to be entrepreneurial, you're asinine.
No we don't have a website or else it would not be very secret now would it
All we have is a hashtag that we rarely use '#asse9' but what we do have is a huge rolodex.
